"Of all
the construction managers I've worked with, Hassan is definitely one of the
most talented, if not the most. I say this from the perspective of having
worked on a number of very large public works infrastructure projects. Marin
Montessori hired Hassan as their construction manager after an architect, who
is very well-known both locally and nationally, gave rave reviews about his
character and work.
With very tight timelines due to the start of the
new school year, an important strength Hassan brought was his ability to
integrate a team and move things along. Indeed, under his management, the
project progressed like clockwork. In fact, we beat our schedule. The Marin
Montessori team worked exceptionally well together, and much of the credit for
that success goes to Hassan.
Hassan's architectural background allows
him to address field issues in a way that probably wouldn't have been addressed
as well, or at all, if he didn't have both architectural and construction
expertise. He not only made fixes from an engineering standpoint, but also kept
the integrity of the design from an architectural perspective; which is
something that no one else I know can bring to a project.
Traditionally, architects were also engineers. For some peculiar reason, the
two professions separated; and this separation is one of the primary reasons
behind most of the problems encountered in modern construction. Hassan has
revived an important tradition which will benefit every project he works
on." -Tony Anziano, Board of Trustees, Marin Montessori School
"Hassan is one of the smartest
individuals I know. He has very strong personal integrity and a straightforward
honesty that everyone appreciates. He also has a keen ability to get to the
essence of matters. I have often said that you don't leave a meeting with
Hassan not knowing what's going on and what is expected of you.
Because he is both an architect and a contractor, he's able to bring extremely
in-depth knowledge from both disciplines into his analysis and oversight of the
work of others. Everyone he works with considerers him fair and balanced in his
expectations; but he suffers no fools
he keeps everything and everyone on
track, on schedule, and moving forward.
Hassan is a master at managing
all parts of a project on behalf of an owner and has been an extraordinary
asset to the many projects on which I've worked with him. I strongly recommend
him to any of my clients who lack in-house expertise and are looking for an
owner's representative to help them manage a project."

"I am convinced that Hassan
could be a scientist or engineer at the highest level. His intelligence and
insight are profound. The fact that he loves spending so much time with his
family, and gets such joy from building, reveal a person who masters priorities
and balance.
When the California College of the Art's president asked
me about hiring a project manager to oversee construction of the San Francisco
campus, I said that they needed someone who could manage all the complexities,
be the eyes and ears through the entire construction, troubleshoot all the
problems, and be the interface with the contractors. For this, I told him,
there's only one person in the world I would trust to do it - and that is
Hassan. The next meeting they hired him immediately and he did a stellar job.
Because he is proactive, as well as process and quality conscious,
Hassan operates as much more than a general contractor. He has proven his
ability to control costs as he oversees construction on the even the largest,
most complex projects. For one of our projects in the Oakland Hills, for
example, he troubleshot some difficult foundation issues early on and
recommended design solutions as options to us. In the end, these
recommendations saved money and time and made a more sound structure. It is
rare to find a general contractor with that kind of insight and ability, but
it's so crucial to the quality, process and entire cost of the project.
Hassan has a sophisticated understanding of design and construction,
and he has a keen ability to collaborate with me to solve field issues without
compromising my design intent. When he gets a set of drawings, he thoroughly
reviews them to troubleshoot any problems that might get in the way of
executing the design. That kind of foresight is really valuable to any
architect and project. When he identifies issues, he provides me with multiple
possible solution sketches and then works with me to arrive at a solution that
supports the design.
He is tough and straightforward and his devotion
to the craft of building is evident in the quality he demands from his crew and
the subcontractors. If there is a material or system that is unconventional or
new, he does his research, and makes sure that everyone who touches the work is
on the same page. Then during the execution of the work, he continually checks
it to make sure that it meets his exacting standards and my design intent.
Hassan is a real asset to a project team. He gets what we are trying
to do. His no B.S. style and his ability to communicate in a clear and
thoughtful manner, create an atmosphere that leads to great results for both
the client and the design team."
